How to Place a Digitization Request

Under U.S. copyright law, the library can provide a digital copy of small portions of our physical titles for the purpose of course reserves.

Digital copies are restricted to course use only, and if an item is something you will use often, it is better for us to purchase an electronic copy of the title if possible. With some exceptions, we can digitize a single chapter, short story, or poem, as long as we don't exceed more than 10% of the total volume's pages.

Requesting Digitization

Add the physical item to your reading list. If you don't request digitization, or we can't provide it for copyright reasons, we will place the item on physical course reserves. (If your course is not yet linked with a class, you will be unable to place a digitization request.)

Click on the item to open the citation.

Under the heading Requests, click Digitization Request.

Open item information and click Request Digitization

Complete the form by indicating the necessary pages, whether to include images, and check the dates the material should be available. By default the window of availability will be the duration of the course.

Click Save.

Complete the form with chapter, pages, and availability dates. Also indicate if image pages should be included.
