Interlibrary loan is the option to request materials from other libraries. It is available to Students, Faculty and Staff. The library does not charge for this service. If the only way to get the material is from a library or service that charges, library staff will consult with the requester to see if they are willing to pay the associated fees.
Local Borrowers are not permitted to request items through interlibrary loan. They are directed to make use of their local public libraries for this service.
Please begin your search through I-Share using EasySearch by searching in the All I-Share Libraries search scope (access I-Share directly from the DACC Library home page). Through I-Share, DACC students, faculty and staff have the ability to place direct requests for materials from the 90+ member institutions of the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries of Illinois (CARLI). I-Share requests typically arrive within 3-4 days.
If you are unable to discover the material you are looking for in I-Share, try searching in WorldCat (access this directly from the DACC Library home page). You can place a request in WorldCat that library staff will review for availability. The library makes every effort to fulfill requests for students, faculty and staff for both academic and personal use. We will get materials from libraries throughout the United States. Items requested through WorldCat vary significantly in their delivery time depending on the distance and delivery method selected by the lending library. Please allow at least 2 weeks, although many items arrive more quickly.
Articles that are unavailable through the DACC Library's databases may be requested through our interlibrary loan form or through WorldCat. We typically receive articles within 24 hours in a digital form. If we cannot get the article from another library for free, we will consult with the requester regarding potential charges prior to requesting. For all article requests, please use the form below.
