Nursing Resources

What Is CINAHL and Why Should I Use It?

CINAHL is an acronym. It stands for the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature. CINAHL Plus with Full Text provides access to hundreds of articles in nursing journals as well as those from an additional rich trove of allied health disciplines. It also includes evidence-based care sheets, quick lessons, clinical trial information, and legal cases.

Unlike performing a general Google search, a search in CINAHL will lead you quickly to the kind of information you need and will direct you those articles available in full text that you have access to through the college's subscriptions. So it's free, the information is reliable, and the information is plentiful.

Accessing CINAHL

CINAHL Plus with Full Text is part of the EBSCOHost family of databases. In order to search it specifically, click on the link for EBSCOHost, select Full-Text Journals (and other Resources).

DACC subscribes to CINAHL Plus with Full Text, which also includes the full text of more than 760 publications. You can find out which by clicking the PUBLICATIONS tab at the top of the CINAHL screen.
