Where the Crawdads Sing

Abandoned as a girl, Kya raised herself in the dangerous marshlands of North Carolina. For years, rumors of the marsh girl haunted Barkley Cove, isolating the sharp and resilient Kya from her community. Drawn to two young men from town, she opens herself to a new and startling world. However, when one of them is found dead, Kya immediately becomes the main suspect. As the case unfolds, the verdict as to what happened becomes increasingly unclear, threatening to reveal many secrets.

Before We Were Yours

Before We Were Yours is based on the heartbreaking true scandal of Georgia Tann, a woman whose Memphis adoption center kidnapped and sold poor children to wealthy families. It became a multi-week USA Today bestseller. Authors praised the novel for its “heart-racing” and shocking tale of struggle, hope, and redemption.

5. Tunes - C. Country

The fifth decision on your road trip is what kind of road trip tunes you'll be listening to!  You'll have three road trip tune genres to choose from, and the third choice you can make is listening to Country tunes!

Complete the Country choice by reading any title that you feel fits this choice in any capacity, at any point in the story and recording the title on your Road Trip tracking sheet.

There are lots of ways to interpret this choice, so feel free to get creative!   Some interpretations could include:

  • about or set in a rural Country or Countryside setting
  • written by an Author that Plays, Writes, Sings, or Produces Country Music (nonfiction or fiction)
  • featuring a Character that Plays, Writes, Sings, or Produces Country Music (nonfiction or fiction)
  • featuring Country Music or a Single Country Song in the story
  • featuring a Country Music Reference or Song Title in the Title of the Book or on the Book Cover
  • featuring a Country Music Artist, Band, or Instrument in the Book Title or on the Book Cover
  • about or set in a Country Music Concert Hall or other similar venue
  • about or set in a notable Country Music city

You can use any title that you’d like, but here are some suggestions to complete the Country choice.
