Summer 2025 Reading Road Trip

Rules and recommendations for our Summer 2025 reading event!

1. Destination - A. Beach

Lies and Weddings: a novel

A forbidden affair erupts dramatically amid a decadent Hawaiian wedding in this hilarious, sophisticated, and thrillingly plotted story of love, money, murder, sex - and the lies we tell about them all.

Beautiful Ruins

The story of an almost-love affair that begins on the Italian coast in 1962 and resurfaces fifty years later in Hollywood.  From the lavish sets of Cleopatra to the shabby revelry of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to the back lots of contemporary Hollywood, this is a dazzling, yet deeply human roller coaster of a novel.

Evil Under the Sun

Ever since Arlena Stuart's arrival the air had been thick with sexual tension.  Each of the guests had a motive to kill her.  But Hercule Poirot suspects that this apparent 'crime of passion' conceals something much more evil.

The House in the Cerulean Sea

Linus Baker is a by-the-book case worker in the Department in Charge of Magical Youth. He's tasked with determining whether six dangerous magical children are likely to bring about the end of the world.
Arthur Parnassus is the master of the orphanage. He would do anything to keep the children safe, even if it means the world will burn. And his secrets will come to light.

The House in the Cerulean Sea is an enchanting love story, masterfully told, about the profound experience of discovering an unlikely family in an unexpected place―and realizing that family is yours.

The JAWS Log

Offers a  look at the background and filming of "JAWS", which was directed by Steven Spielberg.

When the Sea Came Alive: an oral history of D-Day

June 6, 1944—known to us all as D-Day—is one of history’s greatest and most unbelievable military triumphs. The surprise sunrise landing of more than 150,000 Allied troops on the beaches of occupied northern France is one of the most consequential days of the 20th century. Now, Pulitzer Prize finalist Garrett M. Graff, historian and author of The Only Plane in the Sky and Watergate, brings them all together in a one-of-a-kind, bestselling oral history that explores this seminal event in vivid, heart-pounding detail.
